Justin Tucker falls victim to broadcast jinx courtesy of Al Michaels (Video)
Justin Tucker missed a rare kick after a clear case of being jinxed by Al Michaels.
Justin Tucker is one of the best and most accurate kickers in NFL history. Baltimore Ravens fans usually feel safe when he comes onto the field to attempt any kick.
NBC’s Al Michaels was also confident in Tucker during the first quarter of Saturday’s game between the Ravens and the Buffalo Bills. He expected an easy make and instead, put the jinx on Tucker.
Tucker with the rare miss
It is easy to expect a miss once hearing what Michaels had to say. It was even a “doink,” which has become the norm for games featuring the duo of Michaels and Cris Collinsworth.
Tucker also missed a field goal last week and Ravens fans will be hoping this isn’t part of some larger issue or even a case of the yips. He is the most reliable player on the team and if he starts missing, their season may be over Saturday night.
The Ravens kicker only missed three field goals during the regular season and missed a single extra-point. And to be fair, the weather in Buffalo isn’t exactly amazing for kickers this time of year.
The miss kept the score at 0-0 early on as the Ravens look to pull off the upset on the road in Buffalo. But fans know Lamar Jackson and the offense are going to need to punch the ball into the end zone if they are going to win. Unless the Bills offense totally collapses for four full quarters.
The jinx is on and Ravens fans have a reason to be mad about the announcing early on in the game. Michaels doubling down later in the game during another kick may ultimately prove if the jinx is real or not Saturday night.
