player. 848. Scouting Report. WR. Rondale Moore. 2. Pick Analysis. Purdue

After his freshman year, it looked like Moore was going to be the unquestioned No. 1 receiver whenever he declared. However, after playing just a handful of games over the last two seasons, Moore has started to slide just a bit, with some even assuming the diminutive Boilermaker star could slide out of the first round considering how prospects like LSU’s Terrance Marshall Jr. and Ohio State’s, Chris Olave have improved this season. New Orleans has the chance to end his fall near the end of the first round, as he looks like the perfect playmaker that could step in and start taking the top off of the defense.

Moore is great for New Orleans because he can both fill a need and give them a new dimension on offense. Even when Brees wasn’t throwing with what’s left of his arm, Sean Payton likes getting the ball out quick to the likes of Michael Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. Who better to be on the receiving end of those quick hits than Moore? Let’s say Payton wants to go deep more without Brees. Moore’s speed and ability to track the ball deep makes him ideal for that role.

Sanders is getting just a little long in the tooth and Thomas’s 2020 season was basically a wash considering how often he was injured. The Saints need to get whoever their quarterback is next year some more help on the perimeter, and Moore’s game-breaking speed paired with an electric ability to create yards after the catch make him an ideal fit.
