Andy Reid got the crowd at Arrowhead Stadium fired up with his comments after the Chiefs beat the Bills to win the AFC title and a place in the Super Bowl.

You wouldn’t think of Andy Reid as a hype-man, but the Chiefs head coach knows how to rev up a crowd.

He proved that on Sunday night when Kansas City bested the Bills 38-24 in the AFC Championship Game.

When Reid stepped up to the microphone, the whole of KC Kingdom listened, then roared.

The crowd at Arrowhead sounded much bigger than the 17,000 on hand for the victory. Reid has that kind of effect.

Andy Reid’s legend in Kansas City gets bigger by the day

Is it any wonder Chiefs fans adore Reid? He arrived in 2013 and has won the AFC West five years running. Before Reid, they hadn’t won a playoff game since 1993. He broke that run in 2016.

Then he took Kansas City to triumph in Super Bowl LIV, the team’s first since 1969. He’s now one game away from delivering another Lombardi Trophy.

The Chiefs will have to take down another NFL legend in Tom Brady when they meet in Tampa in February. Reid got the better of Brady in November when they met during the regular season. The Chiefs won 27-24.

Another Super Bowl victory would put Reid in the rare company of coaches who have won the NFL championship more than once. Those include Vince Lombardi himself, plus Tom Landry, Don Shula, Tom Flores, Bill Parcells. George Siefert, Jimmy Johnson, Mike Shanahan and Tom Coughlin.

He’d be one away from matching Joe Gibbs and Bill Walsh with three, though Reid would need to take Kansas City fans’ love to a whole other level by taking a run at Chuck Noll’s four or Bill Belichick’s six.
