Green Bay Packers: 3 players to target in the 2021 NFL Draft
Unlike Etienne, Harris will get the opportunity to enter the NFL fresh off of a National Title. That doesn’t mean he is the superior pro prospect. Harris’ stock is ahead of Etienne at the moment, but that could change during the lead up to the draft.
In particular, Harris’ lack of elite straight-line speed is going to be a red flag for some teams. He also runs a little stiff for some scouts’ liking. That may seem like nitpicking a player with this elite level of production, but any running back worthy of a first-round pick needs to be truly elite.
The upside to Harris’ game is that he is an exceptional runner in between the tackles. He shows great balance and drive as a ball carrier. It’s very difficult for defenders to bring him to the ground once he is able to generate momentum as a runner.
That physical running style is going to ender Harris to Matt LaFleur and his offensive coaching staff. Don’t be surprised if Green Bay considers moving up to grab Harris if they get an idea that he won’t be available. That would be a reach in terms of value, but he could blossom into a highly productive player right away for the Packers.
