Pick Analysis. New York Yankees. player. 1.. 43. Scouting Report. AL. East

The New York Yankees being on this list should not come as a shock to you. This is a team hellbent on making it to the World Series for the first-time since 2009. But what holds them bak is pitching.

Last winter, the Yankees made the splash of all splashes by signing former Houston Astros pitcher Gerrit Cole to a nine-year, $324 million contract to be their ace for the foreseeable future. But the starting rotation took a hit last season due to the injuries to Luis Severino and James Paxton. As a result, they were bounced from the ALDS by the Rays.

This offseason, the Yankees made a “Yankee move” by signing former two-time AL Cy Young winner Corey Kluber to a one-year, $11 million deal. In the process, however, they lost JA Happ to the Minnesota Twins and are not expected to bring back Masahiro Tanaka or Paxton. Even with the likes of Jordan Montgomery and Deivi Garcia, the Yankees will never not look for a way to improve. Let’s not forget that they did try to acquire Luis Castillo from the Cincinnati Reds but talks died down due to the NL Central team’s extraordinary demands for the pitcher.

According to MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch, the Yankees have been doing their homework on Taillon. Granted, this tidbit came days before the Feinsand-Berry report on Saturday.

As is the case every year, you can never rule out the Yankees adding talent off the trading block. The Yankees would be wise to consider flipping some prospects for Taillon, considering he comes relatively cheap and could further strengthen their rotation.
