Sure, it might be a bit early to prognosticate such things, but the 76ers and Lakers each lead their respective conference. LA, of course, is coming off an NBA Championship themselves, aiming to repeat in such regard with LeBron James leading it all. With James and Anthony Davis at the helm, it’s tough to see any team out West matching up with the Lakers over the course of a seven-game series. The 76ers, meanwhile, are the Joel Embiid show. Embiid is playing at an MVP level and perhaps the only player in the way of James receiving the award yet again. With Embiid, the Sixers are a force with Ben Simmons also in tow and an experience head coach in Doc Rivers. Without him, they lose to the Detroit Pistons by double-digits.

Philadelphia is lacking a statement win so far this year, with their best victory arguably coming against the Boston Celtics, which they did in back-to-back contests. Beating the Lakers would announce their presence not just in the East, but the entire Association as a force to be reckoned with, and not just a fun story in the first half of the campaign.
