The Super Bowl 55 jersey combinations for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly been revealed.

Super Bowl 55 is set, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers face the Kansas City Chiefs on Feb. 7 following their wins in their respective Conference Championship Games. The Buccaneers are the first team in NFL history to host a Super Bowl in their own stadium, and it just so happens that it’s the NFC’s turn to be designated home team for the big game.

So that begs the question — what uniforms will the Buccaneers be wearing for Super Bowl 55?

According to ESPN, the Buccaneers have chosen to wear their road white jerseys and pewter pants, while the Chiefs wear their home red threads.

Tale behind the uniform choices

Why would the Buccaneers, the home team, decide to wear their road uniforms? Well, there could be three reasons for that.

These two teams met back in Week 12, with the Chiefs pulling out the narrow 27-24 win. That game, the Buccaneers wore their red jerseys and pewter pants, while the Chiefs donned their white jerseys and red pants. Maybe the Buccaneers are looking to change their luck this time around?

Then, there’s this, which some might call an obscure stat. In quarterback Tom Brady’s nine previous Super Bowl appearances with the New England Patriots, he holds a 4-1 record when wearing road uniforms and owns a 2-2 record when donning the home uniforms. Of course, those two home uniform losses came in the Patriots’ upset losses to the New York Giants. The last time Brady hoisted the Lombardi Trophy in New England’s navy blue jerseys was back in 2004, when the Patriots defeated the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 38. As for the one loss in the road uniform combination, that came in Super Bowl 52 in New England’s 41-33 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018.

Finally, the Buccaneers were 2-0 wearing the road white jerseys this postseason, with wins over the New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers.

As for the Chiefs, they had good luck wearing their home uniforms back in Super Bowl 54. The Chiefs overcame a 20-10 deficit to defeat the San Francisco 49ers 31-20 to win their first Lombardi Trophy in 50 years.

Now you know, there’s more to it for a team when choosing what uniforms to wear in the Super Bowl. We’re not saying to place your bets based off jersey choices, but this is some important information to consider. Just saying.
