4. Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins instantly became the top rumored suitor for Watson when trade speculation came about, and they may be his No.1 preferred destination. There are conflicting ideas over whether Miami would give up on Tua Tagovailoa so quickly, and he would surely be part of any deal involving Watson.

Via the Laremy Tunsil trade with Houston in 2019, the Dolphins have extra first (No. 3 overall) and second-round (No. 36 overall) picks in April. It would be funny, and oddly coincidental, for Miami to send picks back to the Texans to get Watson. But it’s not out of the question.

If the Texans are not high on Tagovailoa, as has been rumored, another team may have to be involved in a deal to take him and/or send a different quarterback to Houston. So a path to Miami for Watson could be complicated, even if that’s where he wants to go above all else.

Miami devoted a lot of cap space to the defense last offseason, with substantial improvement to show for it this year. This offseason’s attention should shift to the offense, particularly running back and wide receiver regardless of who the quarterback is. But if there’s any chance to get Watson, the Dolphins have the assets to get the Texans’ attention and it’s hard to ignore they are a team he may want to be on.
