Robinson isn’t the best wide receiver in this year’s free agent class, but he’s probably the top player at his position that will actually change teams. That’s why he should be Miami’s top receiving target when free agency begins.

After all, one of the biggest criticisms of Tagovailoa in his rookie season was his inability to push the ball down the field. Robinson would give Miami’s offense the deep threat it desperately needs if they want to put more pressure on opposing secondaries.

The best-case scenario is that Robinson can impact the Dolphins’ offense in the same manner that Stefon Diggs impacted Buffalo’s offense in 2020. Both groups had a young quarterback that needed more weapons to flourish. Diggs unlocked the Bills passing game and it’s conceivable that Robinson can do the same for Miami.

At worst, Robinson can give the Dolphins a handful of big plays as a deep threat while creating a lot of space for his fellow receivers underneath. That might not justify the lucrative deal he’ll require in free agency, but it’s a risk worth taking for Miami. Finding a deep threat should be one of the team’s top offseason priorities.
