Las Vegas Raiders fans let it be known that they hate Colin Cowherd’s mock trade for Deshaun Watson.

NFL fans are bracing themselves for what is set to become the wildest offseason in recent memory. The tone was set this past weekend after the Detroit Lions traded quarterback Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for Jared Goff and multiple draft picks. Now, all eyes are pivoting to the Houston Texans and Deshaun Watson, who has reportedly demanded a trade off the team.

It’s safe to say that at least half the league is interested in acquiring the superstar quarterback, even though the Texans are playing hardball by saying they have no desire to trade him. Las Vegas Raiders fans, like other bases, were intrigued at the potential trade for Watson. But one sports media figure turned them off on the idea.

During his latest episode of “The Herd,” FOX Sports’ Colin Cowherd provided the viewing audience his mock trade between the Texans and Raiders. Las Vegas would acquire Watson in exchange for four first-round picks, quarterback Derek Carr and tight end Darren Waller. Raiders fans said thanks but no thanks to the talking head’s trade proposal.

Raiders fans have no desire of parting ways with Waller

Raiders fans have no issue with the team parting ways with Carr if it meant gaining Watson. But when it come to moving on from Waller and four first-round draft picks, that’s too much in the eyes of the diehard fanbase.

Waller found his footing with the Raiders organization after it signed him off the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad in 2018. In his first full season with the Raiders in 2019, Waller caught 90 passes for 1,145 yards and three touchdowns without missing a single game. This past season, Waller exceeded his breakout campaign by recording 107 receptions for 1,196 yards and nine touchdowns in 16 games. Waller is an elite tight end, and considering they are difficult to come by, it’s hard to envision the Raiders parting ways with him.

Then, there are the first-rounders. The Raiders are a team with plenty of needs, specifically on defense. This year, Las Vegas ranked 25th in total defense (389.1 yards allowed per game), 26th in passing defense (263.3 yards/game) and 24th in rushing defense (125.8 yards/game). But their biggest weakness is their pass rush, which recorded a grand total of 21 sacks, seven of which belonged to edge rusher Maxx Crosby. The Raiders need to use those draft picks to address their less-than-stellar defense or possibly select their quarterback of the future.

Much like other fanbases, they love the prospect of their team adding Watson under center, but are wary of the price. Even though this is just Cowherd suggesting it, fans let it be known they want no part of this deal.
