The Los Angeles Angels have acted swiftly and announced they’ve suspended Mickey Callaway following his reported sexual misconduct against female reporters.

Los Angeles Angels fans were shocked earlier this week when an alarming report surfaced regarding pitching coach Mickey Callaway. Per that report, Callaway had sent inappropriate texts and photos to five female sports journalists.

Those photos included him being shirtless, and he has also been accused of asking one of the reporters to send nude photos to him. While Callaway has denied these allegations, the Angels have announced they’ve suspended him while the perform their own investigation.

Per ESPN, the Angels are hoping to conclude their investigation by the time spring training is set to get underway. Once that investigation is complete, we’ll know if Callaway will stay on with Los Angeles or if the club will let him go and hire a new pitching coach.

Regardless, this situation as a whole has not made Angels fans happy, as the allegations made against Callaway by the five women sure are serious. One of the allegations also states that Callaway thrust his crotch in a reporter’s face when she was trying to conduct an interview with him.

The allegations weren’t while he was one club either, as the incidents occurred over five years while he was with the Angels, as the pitching coach for the Cleveland Indians and manager of the New York Mets.

“Rather than rush to respond to these general allegations of which I have just been made aware, I look forward to an opportunity to provide more specific responses,” Callaway told The Athletic. “Any relationship in which I engaged has been consensual, and my conduct was in no way intended to be disrespectful to any women involved. I am married and my wife has been made aware of these general allegations.”
