Joey Bosa discusses what Urban Meyer needs to do to translate to the NFL.

The former Ohio State star defensive end gave some insight into what Meyer needs to do to succeed with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Bosa believes that he has to get guys to buy into his coaching. Bosa acknowledged that that was the key to his and Ohio State’s success during his three years there. He built a culture of excellence, and it was up to the players to buy in or not play.

Bosa said, “I think it really depends on that because what he’s bringing is great and it will be successful if you have a team of players that put in a lot of effort and believe in the system and believe in the culture.”

Urban Meyer will need to get grown men to buy into his system.

Bosa went on to say that Meyer was the main reason he went to Ohio State. When he got the coaching job, the Buckeyes went an undefeated 12-0 back in 2012. That was all that Bosa needed to see.

These are grown men with families. This isn’t the college game where coaches have all the power to treat players however they want. He will also have to adjust to losing in the NFL. He has to also gauge how that will affect his health as well. Jacksonville is a work in progress, and they’re not the Golden State Warriors that Steve Kerr inherited as a new coach or the Brooklyn Nets with Steve Nash.

Meyer is going to have his work cut out for him. In due time, he can build the Jaguars into a good team, but it will take patience and cooperation between him and the players.
