2021 NFL Mock Draft: Texans find a Deshaun Watson replacement in the first-round
By Brad Weiss
With their second of two first-round picks, the Jacksonville Jaguars add some protection for next franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Sure, by drafting Jalen Mayfield, Urban Meyer is selecting a player from the University of Michigan, but he is worth selecting a team from Meyer’s hated rival at Ohio State.
The Cleveland Browns are certainly a team to keep an eye on this offseason, as they are so close to being a real contender in the AFC, and are really only a couple of pieces away. With their late first-round pick, they add a talented edge/linebacker in Azeez Ojulari, filling two holes on their defense with one selection.
The Baltimore Ravens have a lot of pieces in place to make another run next season, but they could still use some added help at tight end. In this class, only Kyle Pitts from Florida is better than Penn State’s Pat Freiermuth, and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is going to love throwing to him.
The New Orleans Saints could go through some growing pains next season, as they will have to replace an absolute legend in quarterback Drew Brees. However, this late in round one, they are not going to find his successor, so instead, they bolster the defense with University of Texas linebacker Joseph Ossai.
