Saquon Barkley dishes on his true feelings about Daniel Jones and the future of the Giants.

The 2020 New York Giants were not the “same old Giants” that fans were used to in recent years. With new head coach Joe Judge, New York was a competitive football team that fought until the very end. Even though they finished 6-10, they were a Washington Football Team loss away from clinching the NFC East in Week 17.

With the Giants on everyone’s radar for the 2021 season, many are wondering what move could put them over the edge. Of course, the biggest name on the trade block is Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, whom has been linked to the Giants by various sports media talking heads.

That would mean the Giants would part ways with 2019 first-round pick and starting signal caller Daniel Jones.

It’s not something Barkley wants to see happen.

Saquon Barkley foresees a great future for Daniel Jones

Barkley shut down the Watson talk, saying that he is a big fan of Jones.

“I get to see the real side of Daniel Jones,” said Barkley. “Everyone sees him as a football player, but I get to see the work that he puts in the offseason. I get to see the work he puts in during the season. He’s one of those guys that if you’re trying to get [to the team facility] first and if you pull into the parking lot, his car might be there before you. If you’re in the weight room trying to leave last, he’s going to be right there with you. His work ethic, you really can’t compare it.

“I really believe he’s going to have a great future and I believe he’s going to have a great future for the New York Giants.”

Jones has been the subject of conversation ever since the Giants selected him with the sixth-overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. After being the brunt of jokes and ridicule throughout that offseason, Jones shined in preseason action and throughout his first regular-season in the NFL.

The young signal caller did not have a repeat statistical performance in his sophomore year, but he did cut down on the turnovers that plagued him throughout his rookie campaign. New York’s offense took a huge hit after Barkley tore his ACL in Week 2, which resulted in their lack of production.

But, there’s a lot to be excited about in 2021. The offensive line, which has been a massive detriment to the Giants in years past, has shown significant signs of improvement. Barkley will be returning to help bolster the running attack. And not to mention the Giants have the draft capital to add playmakers around Jones. Season No. 3 could very well be the one where Jones solidifies himself as one of the game’s best young passers.
