The Minnesota Twins have re-signed Nelson Cruz and fans will love the backstory of how things got done.

Nelson Cruz isn’t going anywhere and Minnesota Twins supporters could not be more fired up about it. Despite checking in at 40 years old, Cruz has remained a stud slugger and has been a true terror at the dish for opposing pitchers.

Cruz tested the free-agent waters, but ultimately signed a one-year, $13 million deal with the Twins to return to Minnesota this spring. So, what helped get things done? As it turns out, the Minnesota front office went an above and beyond to make sure Cruz didn’t leave town.

The Twins adding Nelson Cruz’s personal chef to the game day staff is amazing

Well, this is one way to make sure your slugger stays put. Per a report, the Twins indeed have added Cruz’s personal chef to the game day staff. You simply can’t make this stuff up. But hey, if this put a smile on Cruz’s face and locked him in to returning to the team, then good for the Twins’ front office for making this happen.

Cruz indeed has been phenomenal at the dish for the Twins. During the shortened 2020 campaign, Cruz finished fifth in the bigs with his 16 homers. He added 33 RBI. Back in 2019, Cruz was sensational, as he hit 41 dingers and added 108 RBI.

Yes, he may be 40, but Cruz has only gotten better swinging the lumber in his later years. There’s a reason the Twins went out and spent $13 million to bring him back for 2021: they believe he can keep things going with a bang this upcoming season. Look for Cruz to have another big year for Minnesota. Oh, and congrats to his personal chef on the new gig.
