1. Try to get anything for Mason Rudolph

Mason Rudolph had the chance to be Roethlisberger’s heir apparent in Pittsburgh. But he has not shown enough in his three seasons to warrant that title.

Rudolph is now entering the final year of his rookie deal. The Steelers added Dwayne Haskins this offseason and may want to see if he can be groomed to be the next starter in Pittsburgh.

Trading Rudolph is not a priority because he is making minimal money. But if the plan is to go with Haskins or any other option in 2022, shopping Rudolph around and listening to the offers is harmless. There may be teams out there willing to send a pick in exchange, and that would go along with a forward-thinking approach.

Rudolph has made nine starts in his NFL career and did not look terrible in Week 17 against the Cleveland Browns. He flashed a big arm and potentially boosted his own stock as other backups have in Week 17 throughout the past.

There is still the possibility the Steelers see a bright future for Rudolph. But starting over in 2022 with a more proven player would be best for the team, so they should at least listen to offers to see what interest is out there.
