Fifth Round

C Michal Menet, Penn State

It’s not at all shocking to see the Jets take another offensive lineman here in Menet, who was a three-year starter at Penn State. The Jets do have McGovern under contract for two more years so this could be a developmental choice to see if Menet can become a long-term starter at center.

The worst-case scenario here is that Menet becomes a depth piece along the offensive line who can be a spot starter if someone gets hurt. That is also an area where the Jets have been lacking so it’s a no-brainer pick.

LB Lakia Henry, Ole Miss

C.J. Mosley should be back with the Jets in 2021 but they could still use some depth at inside linebacker. Henry is an intriguing flyer to take here with the added bonus of being able to contribute on special teams as a rookie. This pick came from the New York Giants as part of the Leonard Williams trade.

Sixth Round

K Evan McPherson, Florida

The Jets closed out their draft last year by taking punter Braden Mann, who looks like a solid long-term fit on special teams, so Douglas tries the same here with McPherson out of Florida. Kicking has been an issue for the Jets since former GM Mike Maccagnan let Jason Myers walk in free agency after the 2018 season so McPherson, one of the best kickers in the class, could give the Jets an answer here as well.

Seventh Round

The Jets don’t have any seventh round picks as the result of trades.
