2021 NFL Draft: Cincinnati Bengals 7-round mock
The Bengals need to add at least one guard in this year’s draft. Brown isn’t a slam dunk prospect by any stretch of the imagination, but he’s got great size and power for the position. If a coaching staff can unlock his understanding of positioning on the interior he could turn into a quality starting guard.
Adding more weapons for Burrow to play with is never a bad strategy. Smith’s lack of size will force him to play in the slot as a pro, but he’s got real juice with the ball in his hands. If he falls to Round 6 he could turn into one of this year’s biggest draft steals.
Thomas took a while to develop during his collegiate career, but he was an important piece of Oklahoma’s defense in 2020. The Bengals would be wise to add him as a depth piece for their defensive line.
Thompson is a versatile safety who flashed the ability to cover receivers in the slot during his time at San Diego State. The Bengals don’t need him to be a starter, but there’s a chance he can contribute right away when they line up in nickel or dime formations. At worst, he can help boost their special teams’ play with his speed and physicality.
