Did the referees miss the call on the Chiefs’ goal-line stand, denying the Buccaneers a touchdown in the Super Bowl?

It didn’t take long for the smell of controversy to hit Super Bowl LV between the Buccaneers and Chiefs.

With Tampa Bay facing fourth-and-goal, Tom Brady handed the ball off to Ronald Jones II, who was stopped just at the goal line.

Did the refs make the right call?

Referees on the field called the play short resulting in a turnover on downs.

Did they get it right?

That’s a huge call that video review allowed to stand, but it looks like Jones was ever so short. While it was certainly close, the refs likely made the right call. There was certainly no angle worth overturning the call.

Bucs fans will certainly be wondering why Leonard Fournette didn’t get a shot at it as a bigger option at the goal line. There’s no telling what might have happened if they had.

Jones and Fournette both had decent success in the first half. Jones ran for 33 yards on six carries while Fournette matched him with 30 yards on six carries.

The two have worked as a tandem to lead the Tampa Bay rushing attack all year.
