Pick Analysis. Wide receiver. Ole Miss. Scouting Report. Elijah Moore. 55. player. 55

The Steelers hit a home run in Round 2 of last year’s draft by landing wide receiver Chase Claypool. Pittsburgh should try to repeat the feat by nabbing Elijah Moore with the No. 55 overall selection.

The former Ole Miss standout isn’t going to serve as a like-for-like replacement for Smith-Schuster if he departs, but he can step in and help Pittsburgh’s offense right away. Specifically, Moore can give the team a classic slot receiver capable of making big plays after the catch.

Moore doesn’t possess elite track speed, but he’s got more than enough wiggle to make oncoming tacklers miss. That’s a crucial element in Pittsburgh’s offense due to the declining arm strength of Roethlisberger. They need to surround Big Ben with playmakers capable of turning short passes into big games.

Some teams might shy away from Moore due to his lack of height and length, but Pittsburgh can afford to spend a second rounder on a guy who can only play in the slot due to the bigger receivers already on their roster. Moore is a player who can help the Steelers in 2021 no matter what happens with Smith-Schuster in free agency.
