Reading the tea leaves in Pittsburgh makes it seem like the organization is prepared to let Conner walk in free agency. If that happens, the team needs to give Benny Snell a new partner in the backfield. Landing a super productive back like Hill in Round 4 could be just what the Steelers need to keep their offense on schedule.

Hill’s lack of explosive speed is what will prevent him from being a Day 1 or Day 2 pick. He is, however, a versatile running back that can positively impact the Steelers in all facets of their game. His work to become a solid receiver really demonstrates his outstanding worth ethic.

The only cogent argument against the Steelers making this selection is that Hill is too similar to Snell. Neither has blazing speed but both are a real handful to bring down in the open field. Pittsburgh might want to acquire more of a home run hitter in a perfect world, but Hill’s value would be too much to pass up in Round 4.

In the end, Hill just seems like a running back Tomlin will gravitate towards during the pre-draft process. He can help give Pittsburgh a more physical identity with his punishing running style.
