2021 NFL Draft: Chicago Bears 7-round mock
Buster Skrine was a borderline disaster as the Bears’ slot corner in 2020. That makes securing an upgrade over him a big priority for Chicago’s front office this offseason. Spending a second round pick on Robinson would emphatically fill the team’s need.
The former UCF star’s lack of ball skills will keep him out of Round 1, but he’s got everything NFL coaches look for in a guy who can match-up with elite slot receivers on a regular basis. He measures in at just under 6-feet tall and is not afraid to play with physicality. There’s a chance he can use that strength to overpower smaller slot guys at the next level.
There are concerns with Robinson’s ability to tackle, but that’s a weakness the Bears should overlook. After all, the idea of a top-tier cornerback is that he doesn’t allow his opponent to catch the ball. Any flawed technique can be fixed by Chicago’s coaching staff.
Robinson might blossom into an outside corner in time, but it’s his ability to make an impact in the slot right away that should interest the Bears. Expect him to be a part of a big run on corners in Round 2.
