Top 10 favorites for Super Bowl 56: Chiefs lead the way
4. Super Bowl 56 favorites – Buffalo Bills
The AFC’s second-best team is still the Bills, who should be able to hold off Miami once again to win the AFC East. Buffalo got all the way to the AFC Championship Game by being aggressive but head coach Sean McDermott coached scared in that game, costing the Bills a chance to upset the Chiefs.
There is plenty to like in Buffalo, however, as quarterback Josh Allen has developed into a star over the past three years. The Bills have done a good job giving Allen everything he needs to succeed, including a brilliant trade with the Minnesota Vikings to land Stefon Diggs, who became one of the NFL’s best receivers after forming an instant connection with Allen.
The defense was also strong but could use a bit more talent to contend with high-end offenses. The Chiefs managed to move the ball at will against Buffalo’s defense in both 2020 meetings, rushing for over 260 yards in the first meeting and throwing it all over the yard in the playoffs.
There is also a bit of a mental hurdle the Bills will have to clear against Kansas City, which beat them convincingly on two separate occasions. Getting that monkey off of their back will be the thing that determines whether or not Buffalo can return to the Super Bowl for the first time since the Jim Kelly-led edition went to four straight in the early 1990s.
