2. Cowboys free-agent targets – S Justin Simmons

The decision to bring in Quinn as the new defensive coordinator means that there will be a scheme change for the Cowboys. Quinn’s background as one of the masterminds of the Legion of Boom in Seattle means that plenty of Cover 3 concepts will be imported to Dallas, making an upgrade at safety a necessity.

Safety is a position that the Cowboys have tried to fill on the cheap for years and the depth chart isn’t exactly inspiring back there right now. Xavier Woods hasn’t developed into an impact starter and is set to become a free agent while Donovan Wilson wasn’t stellar on the other side either, leaving this as a clear position to upgrade on the market.

The one player on the board who can provide a massive upgrade is Simmons, who has emerged as a star for the Denver Broncos. Simmons put together a Pro Bowl campaign for the Broncos in 2020, recording five interceptions while racking up 96 tackles for good measure.

Denver placed the franchise tag on Simmons last season and could look to do it again if the sides can’t reach a long-term deal. Dallas should watch this situation closely and be prepared to pounce if Simmons does reach the open market.
