2. Logan Allen

Logan Allen has been seen briefly at the major league level in both 2019 and ’20. But he is still only 23 years old and faces the tough task of trying to break into a talented starting rotation.

Right now he is fighting for that fifth and final spot in the rotation with the likes of Cal Quantrill, Sam Hentges, and maybe even Adam Plutko. The team may want to ease him into a starting role given he could be a dominant left-handed option for the staff.

Like Jones, he can begin the season in the minors and get a few starts under his belt to get back into a rhythm after only being a bullpen option at the MLB level the past two years. This plan can firmly set him in as a starter and once again help with the service time equation for the front office.

Allen was acquired in the three-team deal that sent Trevor Bauer to Cincinnati. He should be seen as a long-term force in the rotation and that means he doesn’t need to be rushed in right away.
