If the Chiefs want to spend their free agency cash on a more complete option at defensive end, Ingram could be an excellent fit. He doesn’t offer the same speed off the edge that Reddick can, but he’s a much better all-around player.

He lacks the juice to be a No. 1 option as a pass rusher, but Clark’s presence on Kansas City’s roster means he doesn’t need to fill that role. He does profile as someone who can provide solid production if he’s permitted to be his team’s secondary option. Giving Ingram the ability to work frequently against one-on-one matchups is going to be vital to his success in 2021.

Ingram’s ability to be an above-average run defender shouldn’t be overlooked. The Chiefs struggled mightily to stop the Buccaneers from grinding out yards on the ground in their Super Bowl loss. Adding Ingram to the mix would give Kansas City a valuable hedge against repeating that sort of failure next year.

Ingram might be slightly more expensive than Reddick, but he shouldn’t require a team to break the bank at the age of 31. A one or two-year deal at $8 million would be a big win for the Chiefs. Anything more than that might prove to be a costly overpay.
