Feiler isn’t exactly a household name for NFL fans, but he’s going to be a very popular target in free agency. 28-year-old offensive lineman who can hold up at either tackle spot don’t hit the open market very often.

The reality is that Kansas City doesn’t have the salary-cap space required to upgrade their starting tackle options in free agency. They need Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz to recover and play at a high level in 2021. If they don’t believe in that duo as starters, the upgrade will have to come through the draft.

Feiler is, however, a marked upgrade over the likes of Mike Remmers and Andrew Wylie as a backup option. He’s been steady for the Steelers whenever he’s been asked to step into the starting lineup. As an added bonus, Feiler also can kick inside and play well at guard when the situation arises.

As long as no one talks themselves into Feiler as a starter he should remain within Kansas City’s price range. A multi-year deal at $6-7 million per season would be a worthwhile insurance policy for the Chiefs.
