It seems likely that Sammy Watkins will finally leave the Chiefs for more money this offseason. That leaves Kansas City with a very attractive opening at the wide receiver position. Veterans are going to fall all over themselves for the chance to play with Mahomes in Andy Reid’s offense.

Hilton profiles as the type of guy who might be willing to take a moderate one-year deal to chase a ring with the Chiefs. He’s coming off an injury-plagued season with the Colts that should suppress his market. In particular, he’ll struggle to get a multi-year deal with the average annual value he’d like to have.

That gives the Chiefs a chance to swoop in with a one-year offer that will give Hilton a chance to re-establish his value before heading back into free agency next offseason. He’s no longer the burner he was during his athletic prime, but he can still keep the chains moving for a quality offense.

Hilton can find acres of space in Kansas City working underneath routes with Tyreek Hill distracting the opposing safeties. A one-year deal at something around $10 million could be beneficial for both Hilton and the Chiefs.
