2021 NFL Mock Draft: Teams trading up for a franchise QB
By Brad Weiss
After selecting a quarterback first overall in Trevor Lawrence, the Jacksonville Jaguars use their second first-round pick on a player who could protect his blindside for the foreseeable future. Samuel Cosmi is one of the better offensive tackles in this draft class, and getting him this late in the first round would definitely be a win for a new head coach Urban Meyer.
The Cleveland Browns were one of the better stories in the NFL this past season, making it all the way to the Divisional Round before losing to the Kansas City Chiefs. With the No. 26 overall pick, the Browns bringing a player to team with Myles Garrett up front along the defensive line, adding Alabama star Christian Barmore.
The Baltimore Ravens made it back to the playoffs this season, as Lamar Jackson finally won his first game as a starting quarterback. On defense, the Ravens have some holes heading into next season, including along the edge, making Jayson Oweh from Penn State an outstanding selection this late in Round one.
The New Orleans Saints are losing a legend in this off-season, as it is expected that Drew Brees is going to retire from the NFL. While they will need help at quarterback, this late in round one they turn their attention to the defensive side of the ball, filling a void at linebacker with Missouri star Nick Bolton.
