Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Edge. player. Duke. Chris Rumph. 143. 13

If Ingram does leave in free agency then the Chargers are going to need to replace him by committee on the edge. Rumph isn’t big enough to profile as a starting defensive end, but he’s got enough twitch on the edge to grow into a quality pass-rusher at the next level. A move to outside linebacker might be in his future, but Los Angeles can afford to deploy him in both spots until his future clarifies.

Pick Analysis. Caden Sterns. player. 13. Scouting Report. Safety. Texas. 174

The Chargers already have a lot of talent at safety, but no team can ever have enough players capable of holding up in coverage. Sterns is a safety who can contribute in both zone and man-to-man schemes. If he shows enough burst to play in the slot he could drastically outperform this draft position.

181. player. 13. Pick Analysis. Offensive guard. South Carolina. Sadarius Hutcherson. Scouting Report

Hutcherson is a power guard who is going to need time to learn quality technique at the next level. If things break right, he might grow into a quality starter by the time his rookie contract is through. At worst, he can give the Chargers valuable depth as a developmental prospect.

Pick Analysis. SMU. 205. 13. Scouting Report. Tight end. Kylen Granson. player

Granson lacks the size and power required to contribute as an in-line tight end, but he can help the Chargers in the passing game. That’s enough value to merit consideration in Round 7 with both Henry and Virgil Green headed for free agency.
