Scouting Report. Joe Tryon. Washington. 63. player. 124. Pick Analysis. Edge

The Chiefs need to find ways to get more pressure on opposing quarterbacks in 2021. Frank Clark is a decent option at one defensive end spot, but the options on the other side in Kansas City were dismal one season ago.

Tryon is a prospect that currently divides opinions in the NFL scouting circle. Proponents of his game see his elite burst off the edge and argue that he can grow into a double-digit sack artist at the next level. Critics describe him as a really athletic ‘tweener who needs to fall into the right scheme to achieve meaningful success.

The truth is somewhere in between. Tryon isn’t big enough to hold the edge against the run game at the moment, but he might get there in time. At worst, he projects as a guy who can really harass the quarterback on passing downs from his outside linebacker spot.

The Chiefs can afford to gamble on either outcome at the end of Round 2. There’s a decent chance he’s off the board well before this juncture of the draft, but he would provide Kansas City with great value if he survives until the 63rd overall pick.
