124. Scouting Report. Offensive tackle. 127. player. Pick Analysis. Notre Dame. Robert Hainsey

The Chiefs probably can’t find a significant upgrade over their starting tackles in this year’s draft, but they can do something to address their depth issues. That’s why nabbing Hainsey at the end of Round 4 would give Kansas City some much-needed security on the edge.

Hainsey lacks the strength or speed to ever become a star, but he has a high-floor as a prospect. He’s a steady player who always finds a way to be in the right place. He can’t overwhelm opposing defensive lineman in the same manner that some other tackle prospects in this class can, but he doesn’t get beat nearly as often as his peers.

That steadiness should appeal to Kansas City’s coaches. They need a swing tackle they can feel better about than Mike Remmers next season. Hainsey might require some time to adjust to life in the NFL, but he should develop into a quality No. 3 tackle early in his professional career.

The Chiefs shouldn’t be criticized if they want to take a bigger swing here, but Hainsey has a high probability of carving out a long career as a high-end reserve. That’s terrific value at the end of Round 4.
