2021 NFL Draft: Las Vegas Raiders 7-round mock
Dickerson may be best known for Nick Saban’s emotional decision to give him a late snap in the National Championship game, but he’s a well-known name in NFL circles because of his talent as an offensive lineman. He projects as a guy who can slot in right away at guard for a playoff team at the next level.
The downside to Dickerson as a prospect is that he suffered a lot of injuries during his collegiate career. Coaches at Flordia State and Alabama both saw him miss multiple games due to a variety of maladies. There’s a risk that he just doesn’t have the body to hold up for a full 16-game slate in the NFL.
His considerable upside as a prospect should push him up into Round 3. He’s a smart, powerful player who knows how to use his hands to move defensive lineman at the point of attack. His lack of athleticism will move him inside full-time at the next level, but his smarts will allow him to really use his leverage to create movement on the interior.
Gruden’s admiration for the Alabama program will push him in Dickerson’s direction in the middle rounds. Las Vegas might gamble on him lasting into Round 4, but grabbing him in the third round should nto quality as a potential reach. If he stays healthy he has a chance to be an above-average starter in the very near future.
