Edge. Scouting Report. Western Kentucky. Deangelo Malone. 136. player. 45. Pick Analysis

Malone isn’t going to immediately replace Von Miller as an edge rusher if Denver lets him go this offseason, but he’s an intriguing lottery ticket for the franchise in Round 5. He’ll need to put on a lot of weight to become a solid pro, but he’s got a lot of twitch off the edge. Fangio will be intrigued by the idea of letting him rush from the edge as an outside linebacker.

Pick Analysis. Pittsburgh. 167. Scouting Report. Safety. Damar Hamlin. player. 45

The Broncos have a big decision to make on Justin Simmons in free agency, but they need to add depth at safety even if he stays. Hamlin is a good athlete who struggled to make as many plays as he should have during his collegiate career. If the Broncos’ defensive staff can help him become more consistent, they could have a starter on their hands in a few years.

Marquez Stevenson. 201. Wide receiver. Houston. player. 45. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Stevenson needs a lot of work as a route-runner, but you can’t teach his rare speed. He can give the Broncos an immediate boost as a kick returner with a chance to turn into a dangerous slot receiver by the time he finishes his rookie contract.

Scouting Report. player. 45. Pick Analysis. Offensive tackle. Wisconsin. Cole Van Lanen. 203

Van Lanen is exactly the sort of player you expect a Wisconsin tackle to be. He’s great in the run game, but his lack of mobility causes him meaningful problems against speedy edge rushers. He can provide the Broncos with solid depth in Round 7.

Tight end. Tre' McKitty. 218. player. Scouting Report. 45. Pick Analysis. Georgia

McKitty isn’t going to threaten Noah Fant as Denver’s No. 1 tight end, but he can give them an upgrade as their No. 2. He’s a decent blocker who projects as an above-average receiver. Playing through an injury in 2020 likely artificially depressed his draft stock.
