Jaylen Waddle 2021 NFL Draft landing spot No. 2: New York Jets

All signs point to the New York Jets making a change from Sam Darnold at quarterback. It does seem unlikely that they’ll be the ones to land Deshaun Watson but they should have their pick of anyone outside of Trevor Lawrence in the draft, among other options.

But what can’t be overlooked with the Jets is the fact that whoever is under center has a bag of moldy beans at wide receiver to work with. There is hope for Denzel Mims after an injury-plagued rookie season and Jamison Crowder is fine but the unit could stand to get substantial upgrades to put their quarterback in the best position to succeed.

Jaylen Waddle would be a shot in the arm for the Jets offense. His ability to stretch the field is something they looked for last year in Breshad Perriman but didn’t find. Moreover, his ability to work multiple levels would bring a go-to weapon that currently doesn’t exist.

Jaylen Waddle 2021 NFL Draft landing spot No. 1: New York Giants

The jury is still out on Daniel Jones as the long-term option at quarterback for the New York Giants. However, the general consensus seems to be trending in an unfavorable manner with the Duke product. To know for certain, though, the Giants need to give Jones every opportunity to succeed.

Frankly, they haven’t done that. Between Saquon Barkley’s injuries and a wide receiver room that is nothing to write home about, Jones hasn’t been put in a great spot to prove himself, even if he hasn’t done himself any favors. That’s where bringing in Waddle would come into play.

Sitting with the No. 11 pick, they could be in prime position to pull the trigger on the Alabama football star and throw him into the mix with Jones. Pairing him with Darius Slayton would give the Giants a ton of explosiveness that, if Jones can’t succeed with, will likely determine the quarterback’s future. More importantly, though, it could set him up to succeed and, thus, stabilize the offense moving forward.
