2021 NFL Mock Draft: Quarterbacks dominate the Top 10, but defense controls the board
By Brad Weiss
With their second of two first-round picks this April, the Jacksonville Jaguars decide to get some protection for No. 1 overall selection Trevor Lawrence. During his time at Notre Dame, Liam Eichenberg was an anchor for the Irish, and he would be a big part of the rebuild in Jacksonville, protecting Lawrence’s blindside for the foreseeable future.
The Cleveland Browns are only a few pieces away from being an AFC title contender, and with pick No. 26 they bring in an impressive defensive player to help in an area of need. Zaven Collins is going to be an exciting player at the next level, as he can play the edge and linebacker, filling two holes for the Browns here.
With the Baltimore Ravens finally getting over the hump in the playoffs with Lamar Jackson at quarterback, they can now turn their attention to the defense in round one this April. Azeez Ojulari is a dynamic edge rusher who is going to make plays immediately at the next level, adding to an already solid Ravens defense.
The New Orleans Saints will have to figure out what to do with the quarterback spot this offseason, but it won’t be addressed this late in round one. Instead, they bring in a weapon for whoever is under center next season, adding Minnesota playmaking wideout Rashod Bateman at pick No. 28 overall.
