Cornerback isn’t the only position of need in the Eagles secondary heading into the draft. This team also needs an upgrade at safety if they want to stand up to high-powered NFL offenses on a regular basis.

Cisco didn’t get a lot of attention playing for an inconsistent Syracuse program, but he stood out on tape every week for the Orange. The chief attraction for him as a professional prospect is his propensity to take the ball away from the opposition. He’s a natural ballhawk at the free safety position who can really make plays on the ball in coverage.

Cisco isn’t a Day 1 prospect because of his inconsistency and lack of physicality against the run game. This is not a player the Eagles want to draft and deploy near the line of scrimmage. Cisco needs to be given the freedom to patrol the deep third of the field if he’s going to become a real asset.

Fortunately, the Eagles are in need of just that sort of player. At worst, Cisco can become the No. 3 safety for Philadelphia during his rookie season. That would give them a healthy infusion of much-needed schematic flexibility in 2021.
