2021 NFL Draft: New York Giants 7-round mock
Going this far into the draft without nabbing a wide receiver likely means the Giants will be forced to spend big on the position in free agency. Securing an upgrade at tight end is another way New York can really help Jonesin 2021.
Based on pure talent, Jordan deserves to be considered one of the top tight ends in this class. He still needs to add a lot of refinement as a route-runner, but the athletic gifts are obvious when he’s on the field. New York could easily utilize his speed as an asset on obvious passing downs from the slot.
Over the long haul, the hope would be that Jordan rounds out his game well enough to replace Evan Engram. The veteran has struggled mightily with drops that have really hurt the Giants’ offensive efficiency during his professional career. Jordan could turn into a player with similar athleticism as Engram without the obvious drawbacks.
There’s a legitimate argument to be made that New York should focus on other needs in Round 3, but Jordan has a chance to blossom into a difference-maker at a position of increasing importance around the league. That makes him the right choice for the G-Men.
