Dallas Cowboys mock draft – Fourth Round

player. 123. DT. Marvin Wilson. Florida State. 4th. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Let’s make another defensive pick for the Cowboys as they look to address one of their major issues in 2020. Dallas was an abysmal team at stopping the run in 2020, putting together the second-worst run defense in the NFL.

A big part of the problem was a lack of talent in the middle of the defensive line, making a run-stuffing nose tackle a priority. Spending premium draft picks on a nose tackle doesn’t make sense in today’s NFL so Dallas will look to fill this need in the middle of the draft.

Landing Wilson on Day 3 is a strong move since he is tremendous against the run but lacks the elite athleticism to be an impact pass rusher. There is enough ability in Wilson’s game, however, that he can’t be completely ignored in that category either.

The goal here would be for Wilson to assume a starting spot to stop the run and occupy double teams to free up the Cowboys’ potent edge rushers. Filling this need with a pick here is also a more cost-effective solution than signing a guy like Dalvin Tomlinson in free agency.
