Lane Johnson has a message for Philadelphia Eagles fans after the Carson Wentz trade.

It is a new era in Philadelphia Eagles football after the Carson Wentz trade, and Lane Johnson knows this.

Wentz spent his first five NFL seasons in the City of Brotherly Love. While he was part of a Super Bowl championship team, he was unable to play in the big game. As Wentz begins the second chapter of his pro football career after being traded to the Indianapolis Colts, Johnson offered a message to the Eagles fans about the situation. His response was this tweet: “We Gon’ Be Alright.”

Lane Johnson knows his team must build around Jalen Hurts at quarterback

What allowed Wentz to be dealt this offseason was a growing sense of confidence in second-year pro Jalen Hurts. Philadelphia used a second-round pick on the former Oklahoma and Alabama quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft. By the end of the season, he was starting games, while Wentz was begrudgingly holding onto a clipboard. Hurts is no slouch, as he can ball. Will he get a chance?

Philadelphia would be smart to take the best player available at No. 6, as opposed to reaching for the third or fourth-best quarterback in the draft. Instead of drafting Zach Wilson out of BYU, why not draft the 2020 Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith out of Alabama to catch passes from his former college teammate Hurts? As long as the Eagles think smart, everything will be okay.

It might be hard being an Eagles fan now, but Johnson knows brighter days are ahead for them.
