Saints draft rumors, Rondale Moore

2. Rondale Moore, Wide Receiver, Purdue

Payton might be the best coach in the league when it comes to finding ways to get his playmakers the opportunity to touch the ball ins pace. It’s easy to understand why he might be attracted to a dynamic prospect like Moore. If healthy, he could turn into a superstar at the NFL level.

The issue with Moore as a prospect is that his medical history is full of red flags. He struggled mightily to stay on the field during his collegiate career at Purdue. The idea that his body will hold up to the pounding created by NFL defenses is suspect, at best.

It makes sense for New Orleans to consider taking a wide receiver at No. 30, but they don’t need to gamble on such an intense injury risk. Someone like Florida star Kadarius Toney flashes the same level of playmaking that Moore does despite carrying nearly as many durability concerns.

The bottom line on Moore is that 2018 was the last time he managed to play in more than four games in a single season. He’s a tantalizing prospect, but he doesn’t deserve to be a Day One pick given all of those question marks. If the Saints want to gamble on Moore they need to wait until Round 2 at the absolute earliest.
