3 prospects that should make Red Sox Opening Day roster

The Boston Red Sox are a team in the midst of a rebuild, meaning fans should see some prospects make an early impact. Here are three who should make the Opening Day roster.
The Boston Red Sox enter Spring Training looking to put up a better effort than their last-place finish last season. However, this is a team whose goal was to replenish their farm system with general manager Chaim Bloom at the helm.
Sure, they probably won’t compete against the likes of the New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays or Toronto Blue Jays for the division crown, but they could be a more competitive team in 2021. Considering that, Red Sox fans can see some young faces and top prospects making their debuts. But what about for Opening Day?
Here are three prospects who should make Boston’s Opening Day roster.
After the Red Sox traded away Mitch Moreland to the San Diego Padres last season, that set the stage for them to bring up Bobby Dalbec in 2020. Entering the 2021 campaign, it looks like he will be the starting first baseman.
Dalbec was lauded in the minor leagues for his impressive power. In 2019, the first baseman slashed .239/.356/.460 with 27 home runs and 73 RBI in 135 games across Double-A and Triple-A. Even in just 23 games with the Red Sox, Dalbec showcased that power, showing the organization that they have a good one on their hands.
In the majors, Dalbec recorded a .263 batting average, a .359 on-base percentage and .600 slugging-percentage along with eight home runs and 16 RBI.
Sure, the Red Sox did sign ultimate utility man Marwin Gonzalez not too long ago, but Dalbec is essentially guaranteed to take the field on Opening Day.
