2021 NFL Draft: Green Bay Packers 7-round mock
Green Bay Packers mock draft – Fourth Round
Packers’ fans were furious that the team completely passed on drafting a wide receiver to help Rodgers in arguably the deepest class of pass-catchers in the history of the NFL Draft. This year’s group isn’t as deep but has enough talent to justify waiting until Day 3 to add an upside play at receiver in Palmer.
A 6-foot-2 wideout from Tennessee, Palmer has the potential to be a big-play weapon for Green Bay. Palmer caught 33 passes for 475 yards and four touchdowns in 2020, averaging a solid 14.4 yards per reception for the Volunteers.
There are areas of Palmer’s game where he needs to work on, particularly beating press coverage and route running. The former is Palmer’s biggest issue but he would benefit from working behind guys like Davante Adams, Allen Lazard and Marquez Valdez-Scantling.
It also helps to have Rodgers under center since he can help elevate the play of Palmer. Expect Green Bay to work Palmer in on specific packages before expanding his role in the offense by the end of the season.
