Pick Analysis. Corey Davis . player. 35. Scouting Report. WR. Tennessee Titans. 2

If Kenny Golladay leaves in free agency, the Lions will need a true No.1 target. Even if he stays, the team needs to find a No.2 that can pair well with Jared Goff or whoever becomes the starting quarterback in Detroit for the foreseeable future.

Putting two and two together would make Davis an easy name to watch for in free agency. He grew up in Illinois, went to college at Western Michigan and plays a position of need for the Lions’ offense. Best of all, the potential of a true No.1 target is there following a breakout season in 2020.

Therein lies the problem. One season isn’t worth Detroit potentially risk it big to land another receiver.

Davis has two seasons in which he tallied less than 700 yards and three touchdowns. He also never has surpassed 70 catches on the year and slowly became an afterthought in Arthur Smith’s offense. Part of the reason for Davis’ success was the emergence of AJ Brown as the team’s go-to weapon, meaning corners would double team him, leaving the fourth-year pro wide open.

There’s no denying that Davis is talented, but he’s a high-end second receiver rather than the top choice for a quarterback. Detroit needs to upgrade the position, but not at the price Davis likely will be looking to get next month.
