Biggest ‘snubs’ from the 2021 NBA All-Star Game
Brandon Ingram
Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson were neck-and-neck in the race for an All-Star spot from the New Orleans Pelicans, but ultimately, Zion is like Thanos — he is inevitable. Williamson has arguably been the Pelicans’ best player this season, and at 13-17, this team could make the case for one All-Star at most but definitely not two.
Ingram deserved to be right in the hunt though, putting up 23.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists a night. He’s also shooting a tidy 46.9 percent from the floor and 39.4 percent from 3-point range, and all of those numbers (with the exception of his rebounds) are slightly up from last season, when he earned his first All-Star selection.
The difference is the Pelicans were a better team at that point last year, and because Zion is so darn popular (and actually warranting the attention with his on-court play now), it’s hard to justify Ingram being a true snub in such a crowded group.
Verdict: Correct call
