There’s an old saying in the NFL that teams feel as if they are a “quarterback away” from contending. If there ever was a team that came close to living up to that sentiment, it would be the Colts entering 2021.

They now are a left tackle away from contending following the addition of Carson Wentz. Anthony Castonzo retired after 10 seasons of quality play, helping Andrew Luck become a superstar in the post-Peyton Manning era. Could Williams entering Lucas Oil start a new era off on the right note?

The Colts offensive line has been a top-five unit for the past three seasons. They would easily take the top spot with a Pro Bowl name on the blindside protecting Wentz. Best of all? The Colts have $43,6 million in the cap that would allow them to spend top dollar on fixing their line.
Oh, they’re also ready to contend now.

Williams already replaced Joe Staley’s legendary status one season in San Francisco. He could be the actual missing piece from putting the Colts in the same conversation.
