2021 NBA Mock Draft 1.0: Cleveland Cavaliers swing big at No. 1

The Magic’s fetish for long, athletic defensive disruptors has been a running joke for years and while it hasn’t created a contender it’s helped build an interesting roster with upside, and one that might look significantly better this season if Jonathan Isaac, Markelle Fultz and Mo Bamba were all consistently healthy. Bits of this roster are likely to turn over in the next year or two and there are plenty of holes that could be filled. But adding another long, athletic, defensively disruptive wing still makes sense.
Johnson is an incredibly active and aggressive defender but at 6-foot-5 with a fairly slight frame, he’s likely to spend more time defending 1-2-3 than 2-3-4. He’s still fairly raw as a shooter and handler but he’s shown enough to think he could develop into a secondary creator, especially with his solid passing. His future may be as a complementary piece but his defensive upside, motor and athleticism are enticing.
