Duke basketball looks to continue improving their NCAA Tournament resume when the Blue Devils take on the Louisville Cardinals.

The college basketball regular season is wrapping up and the Duke Blue Devils find themselves in an unusual position. A rough start to the year has left the Blue Devils firmly on the NCAA Tournament bubble at the end of February but Mike Krzyzewski’s team is at least trending in the right direction.

Duke picked up its fourth straight win on Monday, jumping all over the Syracuse Orange in the first half en route to an effortless 85-71 victory. Freshman D.J. Steward was one of four Blue Devils to score in double-figures in the contest, leading the way with 21 points on 8-of-17 shooting.

The win over the Orange was good for Duke since it knocked down a fellow bubble team but didn’t do much to boost a team sheet in need of marquee victories. Tonight’s game against Louisville presents a new opportunity for the Blue Devils to make a statement.

The contest is also important to Louisville, which is teetering closer to the bubble than they would like thanks to a lengthy COVID pause in February. The Cardinals were blown out by North Carolina in their first game back but recovered nicely to score a double-digit victory over Notre Dame earlier this week.

The finishing kick of ACC play is rough for Louisville, which has this trip to Cameron Indoor Stadium ahead of matchups with the ranked Virginia schools next week. Finding a way to get this game is key for the Cardinals, who may have a tough time securing a split against the conference’s elite programs.
