CB. Cincinnati Bengals. William Jackson III. 56. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 2. player

C.J. Henderson is hopefully the next Jalen Ramsey in Jacksonville’s secondary. The problem is, teams that have great defenses usually have two quality quarterbacks. Sidney Jones has at least earned a chance to return in 2021.

D.J. Hayden should only be in the slot or on the sideline. Well the Jaguars could acquire a quarterback in the draft, several names will be interested in this offseason.

Is Jackson one of them?

Jackson certainly has been a mixed bag in his five years with the Cincinnati Bengals. He missed the entire rookie year with a torn pectoral muscle but bounced back well in Year 2. Since coming out of Houston, the former Cougar has totaled 150 tackles, 41 pass deflections, three interceptions and a sack.

The market for cornerbacks will always be lucrative. The problem with offering Jackson a massive deal is he’s yet to show that he can be a top-tier corner. He’s never tallied more than one interception in a season and most of his success comes in pass break deflections.

Is that worth a $13 million per season salary?

Jackson might be the top cornerback on the market this offseason due to his age, but he shouldn’t be paid like one. Teams will always overpay for cornerbacks, making 2021 another year for someone won’t get top-level money.

The Jaguars could use the 25th-overall pick to acquire a younger corner with higher upside. Unless the two can meet in the middle, keep him out of Duval.
