2. Ja’Marr Chase WR, LSU

In today’s world, with social media, everything has become instantaneous. Since we can get information so much easier and faster, sometimes that makes us forget other things that may not be directly in front of our faces currently.

This seems to be the case with Ja’Marr Chase.

Chase opted out of the 2020 college football season. LSU went 5-5 and did not make any noise following a National Championship win the season prior. There was little talk surrounding the team and even littler conversation around Chase.

Yes, everyone always kept Chase around in draft conversation. But, as DeVonta Smith lit up college football on his way to a Heisman Trophy win, many were distracted by Smith. Which, of course, is absolutely fair and warranted.

However, Smith’s 2020 seemed to somewhat convolute the receiver rankings in this draft. It appears that although he did not play last year, that Chase may still project a tick above Smith in the prospect rankings.

Either way, Douglas will have his pick between the two at number two. And, truthfully, you could have put Smith here instead of Chase and not much reasoning or value would be lost. For this article, Douglas should look to add Chase with the likes of Denzel Mims, Jamison Crowder, and possibly a free agent signing like Allen Robinson.

With the quarterback position being so talked about, it would make sense to surround whoever is under center for the team next year with as much receiver talent as possible. Chase would provide just that. In 2019 as a sophomore, he had 1,780 yards with 20 touchdowns on 84 receptions.
